Time Out listing's preview of gig:

KNIGHT MIGHT NOT BE THE MOST MUSICALLY ADVENTUROUS SINGER IN SOUL, BUT SHE'S IN POSSESSION OF A FINE BELTER OF A VOICE AND AN EASY CHARM WHICH MAKE HER A DEAD CERT IN THE LIVE ARENA - AND SHE HAS THE MOBOS, HONOURARY DOCTORATE AND MBE TO PROVE IT.

Fantastic gig last night, can't wait for the album, DVD and tour.
Good to see ya Paz.
Met some new fans last night who will hopefully be coming in here soon.

Here's the setlist and some fuzzy pics...

I'd been dubious about the whole covers idea and initially disappointed to hear Bev wouldn't be playing any of her own songs-but I was won over staight away. She's picked stunners. Southern Freeze was a superb opener - from then on it was one after the other.

It's great that she's deliberately gone out to champion and bring a spotlight to classic UK Soul. The songs sounded great but I'll need to hear the album to fully get some of the interpretations, e.g.'Round and Round' is a Jaki Graham song I love, but I didn't quite get it on the night.

Amazing so many of the original artists were there - it was 'Hail Hail' when they came on for a group bow.
A special thing happened afterwards - I got to meet songwriter legend Rod Temperton who was leaving with the rest of us at the main door. I can't quite believe I got to shake the hand and get the autograph of the guy that wrote 'Boogie Nights',and 'Always and Forever' by Heatwave, 'Rock With You', 'Off The Wall' and 'Thriller' by Michael Jackson, 'Give Me The Night' and 'Love x Love' by George Benson, 'Stomp' by The Brothers Johnson, 'Mystery' on Anita Baker's 'Rapture', one of the greatest albums ever and 'You Put a Move On My Heart' by Mica Paris......... etc etc etc !

Am very glad I went - Beverley and the band were superb, plus great to see wonderful Louise Marshall back !

Yes,good to see you there Evie !
